Tiny Army is a community of creatives who get together to draw, share info, and promote a robust culture of illustrated artist in the state of Arizona.

We feel that there is a lot of creativity in the region that most people (even in Phoenix) don’t know about. At it’s most basic level, Tiny Army a social sketch-crawl where people get together, draw, create comics, and even collaborate. At a higher level, we hope that by being part of a creative community, together we might be able to put Phoenix on the map as a locale with great artists.

Why “Tiny Army”? While we’re not “militant” in any sense of the word, we are all about aggressive (guerrilla) marketing of local art and creatives. We’re small, but passionate about what we do. “Art Soldiers” maybe, who are serious about success. We should help each other by networking, talking, and sharing experiences.

Tiny Army is:

• A new community. We’re just starting, so help get the word out!
• A chance to draw and meet other Phoenix Illustrators and Artists. Bring your pencil/laptop/ink/wit; let’s draw!
• Informal; there are no rules or stuffy titles.
• Interested in sharing information, experience, guerrilla marketing ideas and creative techniques.

• For anyone interested in increasing your artistic muscle creating your illustrated masterpieces!

Tiny Army is not:

• A structured organization. No presidents, board members, or meeting minutes.
• Interested in people trying to sell us stuff in person; this is networking but not network sales.
• Waiting for permission; It’s time that Phoenix artist started to promote themselves!
• A military society; less ranks, more art!
• About ego. Set aside the attitude, and let’s have some fun.
• Interested in spec work. We feel that spec art devalues what we do. Don’t do spec art.

Tiny Army was founded by illustrator/publisher Daniel M. Davis as a way to meet, promote, and learn from other Phoenix area illustrators.

New to the Phoenix Valley, Daniel was unable to find many people that matched his passion for illustration, laughing, or helmets, so he decided to create his own not-so-secret secret society. While he’s never been in a tank/jeep/biplane, he has illustrated 3 books about monsters and published them through his own company, Steam Crow Press.

He can be seen promoting his work at a variety of local and national comic conventions where he is usually photographed doing kungfu and/or eating.

A glutton for punishment, Daniel has as many websites as he has Jumbo Machinder toys, and one day he would like to have a spring-loaded fist and a well-insulated igloo yurt.

He lives in Peoria with his lovely wife Dawna, and their goblin-son, Kaid.
